ROBIN TROWER - The Playful Heart (2010)
When it comes to old-school classic-rock guitar heroes, Robin Trower stands right alongside big dogs like Hendrix and Clapton. Not only was he part of the classic Procol Harum lineup - the guy played on "A Whiter Shade of Pale" for God's sake - he was one of the leading blues-rock axemen of the '70s. But Trower's accomplishment's aren't all in the past - he continues to make new music, and The Playful Heart finds the U.K. six-string legend turning out plenty of ripping leads even while offering up a batch of tunes that's a bit more low-key and introspective than some of his previous outings.
The latest studio recording by one of Rock/Blues legendary guitarists. Recorded with his touring band, produced by long-time musical cohort Livingston Brown, these eleven new songs show a more introspective Robin Trower. The guitar work alone requires that any aspiring player have this CD in his collection, and the loyal fans will all need a copy. A 50-city tour will publicize the new music and stir up attention starting in January 2011.
