MARCH MADNESS: DAY 22…’Melo’s shooting skillz (&drillz)…Longoria: TP is the teacher, I’m the student…

‘MELO's GOT SKILLz…jučer je Spursima ubacio 32 poena u 38 minuta, šut 13-23…

He came out about 90 minutes before tipoff and tooka couple of random jumpers, then went into a drill I've never seen before. One of the Nuggets assistants (who I'd never seen before) came over and defended Melo, and Melo set up along the three-point line. Nuggets assistant coach Tim Grgurich came over and stood at the top of the key. (Grgurich is maybe the best assistant coach in the NBA as far as working with individual players - you think it's a coincidence that Melo has had a breakthrough year just when Grgurich showed up? And yeah, I've thought about doing a Grgurich article but he never speaks to the media.)

Anyway, the drill went like this: Melo would kind of post up around the perimeter and fight to get in position to catch the ball. Grgurich would wait until Melo got open and then feed him the ball. Melo would catch and then pivot around and face up. The defender stood right up on him. Then, without moving his feet or dribbling the ball, Melo had to figure out a way to get his jumper off. It helped that Melo shoots the ball with such beautiful form, from up over his head where it's hard to block.

But releasing the ball wasn't the hard part -- it was getting the ball to a shooting position without having it poked away or stripped by the defender. Sometimes he'd swing it up from the right, sometimes the left, occasionally he'd pretend to pivot one way and come back the other.

And then he'd shoot the long jumper with a hand in his face, and more often than not he'd drain it. Grgurich came over and offered tips from time to time, and Melo made small adjustments.

I've seen tons of NBA practices and shootarounds and warmups, but this was impressive. You readers who play understand how hard it is to get a shot off in general, much less with a hand right in your grill. And to be able to make it 80 percent of the time? That's what separates superstars from good players.

LONGORIA: ‘when the lights are out, he's the teacher, and I'm the student.’eekeekeek

File it under Too Much Information, but Longoria told "Extra" and "Access Hollywood" that "when the lights are out, he's the teacher," and "I'm the student," she added to "Extra."

The revelation came in response to an article in the latest Allure magazine that quotes the "Desperate Housewives" star as saying that in matters of love, she was "the experienced one."kiss

International magazines seized the story, concluding - wrongfully, Longoria stressed -- that Parker is a lousy lover. (AP)
