    No thanks, not for me. Orchestration is nice, voice okay, strumming guitar not so much.
    Being an old foggie most of these covers are after my time and the couple I do know I didn't really like.

    Well, after listening. all I can say is it's a marvelous album. Stunning actually. The musical backdrops are "invented", some of the orchestrations sound like they're made with (very subtle)samples, the recording studio is definitely a music instrument here, these songs sound old and modern at the same time. That is to say, the album goes back to XXX's style from the 60's and 70's, but it sounds totally modern and very lush. I'm so pleased that they didn't go the all-acoustic route with this, the musical backdrops are fascinating. Completely different than Johnny Cash's last recordings, XXX's voice is in excellent shape, not ragged-out, amazing for a 70+ yr old! There is a true sense of this being a swan song effort and it has the potential to become a classic. Especially beautiful here is the Jackson Browne written, "These Days" and U2's "All I Want Is You" ... But from the first track, "Sing", you get the feeling that the artists involved in this knew exactly what they were seeking and truly found it. A high point for 2008!
